    Anupam Roy (Bengali: অনুপম রায়) is an Indian singer-songwriter & music director. Anupam works as a solo artist for studio albums (singer-songwriter). As a film music contributor, he works as lyricist, music director & playback singer.

    Early days

    Born and brought up in Calcutta, Anupam completed his schooling from St. Paul's Boarding & Day School, Kidderpore(Class X) and MP Birla Foundation, Behala (Class XII). He did his graduation in electronics and telecommunication engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He was the gold medalist of his batch (2004). He used to work for Texas Instruments India, Bangalore as an analog circuit design engineer from 2004 (July) to 2011 (March).

    Career in music

    Anupam’s initiation in music was mainly through his mother, Madhurita Roy. A trained singer, she taught him the basics. While still in school he took lessons in playing the “tabla” for 3 years. By that time he had started writing songs, mainly in Bangla. He dabbled with his dad’s “bulbul tarang” for a brief period before he finally picked up the acoustic guitar as his primary songwriting companion in the year 2001.

    He always felt the need of expressing his thoughts in his own choice of words and musical phrases.
